Personal Websites Only

Right now I’m only building personal websites—family pages, friends pages, memorials, hobbies, photo galleries, and similar projects. I’m keeping the scope simple so I can do solid work, communicate clearly, and finish projects without turning it into ongoing “always-on” support.

Build Style Options

Depending on what you want, I can build your site in one of two ways:

  • Simple / Lightweight Site (low maintenance): Great if you mainly want a clean site with pages and galleries that just works. Usually faster and requires less upkeep.
  • WordPress Site (more flexible): Great if you want the ability to add pages or posts later. WordPress can require occasional updates and maintenance to keep things running smoothly.

If you’re not sure which one fits, that’s fine—I’ll recommend the best option based on your goals and how “hands-on” you want to be after launch.

Starter Packages (what’s included)

Basic (Simple & Clean)

  • 1–2 pages (example: Home + Contact, or Home + About)
  • Mobile-friendly layout
  • Simple photo section
  • Contact form (optional)
  • Basic setup + launch

Standard (Family & Friends)

  • Up to 5 pages (example: Home, About, Photos, Contact, Guestbook)
  • Gallery page (single gallery or simple albums)
  • Contact form + basic spam protection
  • Light image sizing for faster loading
  • Basic setup + launch

Plus (Stories + Galleries)

  • Up to 8 pages
  • Multiple galleries/albums (organized by events, years, or themes)
  • Guestbook with moderation options
  • More layout variety (sections, callouts, timelines, etc.)
  • Light image optimization for speed
  • Basic setup + launch

To keep your site loading quickly—and to keep the project scope clear—each package includes a set amount of photo placement and gallery setup.

Gallery size guideline

  • 25–40 photos per gallery/album is the sweet spot.
  • If you have more, we split them into multiple albums (example: “Day 1 / Day 2 / Favorites”).

Total photos included (across the whole site)

  • Basic: up to 20 photos
  • Standard: up to 60 photos
  • Plus: up to 120 photos

Important

  • If your photos are already sorted into folders/albums (and each image ideally named and sorted in a sensible order), your cost stays lower.
  • If photos are unsorted, need heavy cleanup, or you want me to choose/organize them, that becomes content organization work and may increase the price (either an add-on or billed by time).

Extra photos

  • Extra photos can be added later as an add-on or as an occasional update (often easiest in blocks like 25 at a time).

Pricing Overview (how costs work)

Every website has two types of costs:

  1. Costs paid to providers (domain, hosting, optional email)
  2. My build and support cost (design/build + optional updates/maintenance)

Domain Name (paid to the domain registrar)

  • Your website address (example: YourName.com)
  • Typically an annual fee
  • You own the domain. I can help you set it up, or you can do it yourself.

Website Hosting (paid to the hosting provider)

  • Where your website “lives” online
  • Typically monthly or annual
  • Most personal sites do fine on a basic plan.

Email Services (optional, paid to the email provider)

  • Email using your domain (example: you@yourdomain.com)
  • Typically monthly or annual, depending on how many mailboxes you need
  • Some hosting plans include basic email, but many people prefer a dedicated provider for better reliability and spam filtering.

Best practice: You pay these providers directly so you own the accounts—I’ll help you set everything up.

One-Time Build Pricing

These are typical ranges to give you a real idea up front. Final pricing depends on pages, features, and how organized your content is.

Prices are reduced to the first 10 customers:

  • Simple Starter (1 page): $350–$650 $150–$350
  • Family & Friends (up to 5 pages): $750–$1,250 $350–$750
  • Story + Gallery (up to 8 pages): $1,200–$2,000 $750–$1,500

Optional Add-Ons

  • Guestbook (with moderation + spam control)
  • Extra pages
  • Additional galleries/albums
  • Content cleanup help (formatting text, organizing photos)
  • Basic accessibility pass (headings/contrast/alt-text guidance)

Updates & Maintenance (optional)

Occasional Updates (as-needed)

Perfect if you only need help once in a while:

  • add photos, update text, new page, small fixes, etc.

Maintenance Plans

If you choose WordPress (or you just want coverage), I offer optional upkeep:

  • Lite: $30–$80/month (updates + backup checks, basic security, minor fixes)
  • Standard: $100–$150/month (everything in Lite + priority response + small monthly content changes)

Routine upkeep for small personal sites is commonly in the $25–$75/month range depending on how hands-on the support is.

Notes About What I Don’t Offer (to keep expectations clear)

At this time I’m not taking on e-commerce, online stores, memberships, booking systems, or other projects that require constant management and frequent ongoing changes. If you’re unsure whether your idea fits a personal site, just ask—I’ll tell you straight.

How to Get a Quote

Tell me what you want to build and what you’ll provide—text, photos, layout ideas, color scheme and any example sites you like. Also tell me whether your photos are already sorted into albums/folders (that keeps the quote lower). Once I see your needs and what you have ready, I’ll work up a clear quote and a simple plan to get it done.
